First Blog

Fifteen years ago, I started this website, and for fifteen years, it pretty much sat here waiting for me. I guess some things happen when they’re supposed to. So, welcome everybody. ❤️ For years, Facebook has been the place where Breezie and I have shared our lives with you. We’ve shared the beautiful days, the difficult ones, the ridiculous ones, the adventures, the pictures, the videos, the laughter, and a whole lot of life along the way. Somehow, through all of that, many of you stopped feeling like followers and started feeling like friends. But Facebook is changing, and it has become harder and harder for pages like ours to simply reach the people who chose to follow us. So instead of worrying about what Facebook does next, we decided to build something of our own. And maybe that turned out to be a blessing, because this feels different. It feels more personal. It feels like home. Here, I can share the pictures Facebook might never show you, the videos you might otherwise miss, and the stories I probably wouldn’t tell anywhere else. Some will make you laugh, some might make you think, and some may even tug at your heart a little. But every one of them will come from the same place our adventures always have: real life. So pull up a chair and make yourself at home. Check in every day because you never know what Breezie, Silver, and I might get ourselves into next. Fifteen years ago, I built a website. It just took me fifteen years to realize I wasn’t building a website at all. I was building us a place to meet. Welcome home, my friends. The next adventure starts right here. ❤️😊☮️

We often think of adventure as something that happens far away, involving airplanes and exotic locales. But lately, we have been practicing the art of the slow wander right in our own backyard. It is amazing what you can discover when you stop rushing to get to the end of the trail and start looking at what is right in front of you.

Finding Wonder in the Familiar

There is a specific joy in revisiting the same path at different times of the year. You notice how the light changes, which flowers bloom first, and how the birds migrate. By slowing down, you give your mind the space it needs to breathe and your heart the chance to feel wonder again.

A New Way to Explore

Next time you go for a walk, try to find three things you have never noticed before. It could be a strange pattern in the bark of a tree or a hidden trail you always overlooked. Adventure is a state of mind, and it is available to you every single time you step out your front door.
