Everybody Needs a Corner of Love and Hope

Yesterday, while walking through the little town of Fort Bragg, California, we came across a corner that made us smile before we even reached it. Right above the doorway were four beautiful words: Corner of Love & Hope. Now, if there was ever a corner in this world where everybody ought to spend a little time, I believe we found it! Of course, Breezie and I couldn't pass up a chance to take a picture. So we set up the camera, got ourselves situated, and started having a good old time. But here's where the story gets even sweeter. If you look way over to the left side of our picture, you'll notice a gentleman wearing a safety vest. He was a city worker, busy watering the plants and keeping the town looking beautiful. He was such a nice, polite fellow. He didn't want to interrupt our picture, so he patiently waited until we were ready. When we told him we were all set, he decided to get in on the fun! He leaned into the picture with a big smile, giving us one of those wonderful little moments you could never plan. And you know something? I think he made the picture even better. There we were, three people enjoying a simple moment of happiness on a street corner dedicated to love and hope. No big celebration. No special occasion. Just a little kindness between people who happened to cross paths. Wouldn't it be wonderful if every town had a corner like this? Better yet, what if we all carried a little of that corner around with us? A friendly smile for a stranger. A helping hand when somebody needs one. A kind word for someone having a difficult day. We may not be able to change the whole world overnight, but we certainly can make somebody's little corner of it brighter. And sometimes, all it takes is a smile from a fellow watering the flowers. So wherever you are today, remember this: You don't have to find the Corner of Love & Hope. You can help create one wherever you go. Sending a little love and a whole lot of hope your way from Breezie, Finius and Silver. And if you ever find yourself in Fort Bragg, keep your eyes open. There's a beautiful little corner waiting to remind you what really matters in life.
