A Change of Plans! On Our Way to the Sequoia Giants

One thing Breezy and I have learned about living on the road is that sometimes the best adventures begin when your plans fall apart! We had our sights set on one destination, but when we couldn't find a place to stay, we did what we've become pretty good at doing. We changed direction! And just like that, another adventure was born. Today we're leaving Coalinga, California, and heading toward Visalia, where we'll be setting up camp and getting ready to explore the land of the giant sequoias. After spending time among the magnificent coastal redwoods, we're excited to meet their mountain cousins. And what cousins they are! While coastal redwoods are the tallest trees on Earth, giant sequoias are the largest trees in the world by volume. Some have been standing for more than 2,000 years! Just imagine the history those giants have witnessed. But there's something else about this journey that makes us smile. We don't have every day planned out. We don't always know what's waiting around the next bend, and sometimes we don't even know which direction we'll be heading until life gives us a little nudge. That's freedom. It's waking up in the morning, looking at each other, and realizing that another beautiful day is ours to enjoy. No need to rush through it. No need to have everything figured out. Our home goes wherever we go, Silver keeps a watchful eye on the operation, and Willie Bear follows along behind ACE, ready for whatever adventure comes next. We've discovered that life has a funny way of taking you exactly where you need to be, even when it's nowhere near where you thought you were going. And maybe that's one of the greatest lessons this journey has taught us. You don't always have to know where the road leads to appreciate the beauty along the way. So come along, my friends. We're headed toward some of the most magnificent living things on this planet, and we can't wait to share what we discover. Another highway. Another adventure. Another beautiful day to be alive. The Adventures of Finius the Skinniest continues!
