A Heart in the Middle of Nature

Sometimes the most beautiful messages in life show up where we least expect them. Breezie and I were exploring Twin Ponds in California, surrounded by golden hills, tall trees, and mountains reaching up into a brilliant blue sky. Tucked away in that peaceful landscape was a pond covered in the brightest green you could ever imagine. Green like there was no tomorrow. It was beautiful all on its own. But when I stepped back and took a panoramic picture, something wonderful happened. The pond turned into a giant heart, resting right there in the middle of nature, like it had been waiting for someone to notice. I stood there looking at it and thought, How many hearts like this have I walked right past without seeing? That’s the thing about life. It’s always trying to show us love. We’re just usually too busy to look. We get so wrapped up in our troubles, our responsibilities, and our worries that we forget to enjoy the very life we’re working so hard to hold on to. We put things off until tomorrow. We wait for better weather, more money, more time, or a season when life isn’t so complicated. But tomorrow isn’t promised to any of us. Today is. The greatest moments of our lives usually aren’t the big ones. They’re a sunrise you stopped to watch. A walk beneath the trees. Holding the hand of someone you love. Birds singing outside the window. Warm sunshine on your face. These things don’t cost a dime, and someday they may be the memories you treasure most. Now here’s what I really want to say to you this morning. Maybe yesterday was hard. Maybe you’re carrying a sadness nobody knows about. Maybe life hasn’t turned out the way you hoped, and you’re wondering if you’ll ever feel that happiness you once knew. Please hear me. You are not too late. You are not too far gone. And you are not alone. Your past is part of your story, but it doesn’t get to write the rest of it. That pen is in your hand. Every single morning is a fresh page. A chance to love a little deeper, forgive a little easier, laugh a little louder, and be grateful for the incredible gift of simply being alive. The sun didn’t check your record before it came up today. It just rose. For you. I believe there is something deeply spiritual about being out in nature. It reminds us that we belong to something far bigger than our problems. The trees keep growing. The water keeps moving. The sun keeps rising. And God keeps leaving little love notes for us, sometimes in the shape of a big green heart in the middle of a pond. So here’s my challenge for you today. Go find your heart. Step outside if you can. Look up at the sky. Take a walk, visit a park, sit by some water, or call someone you love and tell them so. Keep your eyes open, because once you start looking for beauty, you’ll be amazed how much of it has been there all along. Don’t wait until everything is perfect to decide to be happy. Perfect isn’t coming. Today is here. When we look back over our lives, I don’t believe we’ll wish we had worried more. We’ll wish we had watched more sunsets, taken more walks, shared more laughs, and loved the people beside us a little louder while we had the chance. And if your heart has felt a little empty lately, remember this: just because yesterday was difficult doesn’t mean today can’t be beautiful. Your story is still being written, and some of the best chapters haven’t happened yet. From Breezie, Silver, and me, we wish you a peaceful morning full of love, hope, and the courage to start fresh. Life is happening right now, my friends. Don’t miss it. And if you see a heart out there today, in a cloud, a rock, a leaf, or a pond, tell me about it in the comments. Let’s fill this page with love.
