The Beautiful Life of Rick: Some Stories Never Leave You

Some trees don't hurry. And some stories take a lifetime to find their way onto paper. Today is a pretty special day for me. My newest book, The Beautiful Life of Rick, is finally here, and I have to tell you, this one has gotten into my soul in a way I never expected. I've written about some difficult things in my life. I've shared experiences I once thought I'd carry to my grave. But Rick's story is different. I finished writing this book, yet somehow I haven't finished living with it. Even now, I find myself thinking about Rick in the early morning hours, usually while Silver is reminding me that breakfast is more important than whatever happens to be going on in my head. And believe me, that little fellow doesn't care whether I'm writing the next great American novel or trying to remember where I left my coffee. At 4:20 in the morning, he's got a schedule to keep. But once he's fed and the coffee is brewing, my thoughts often wander right back to Rick. A Story About More Than One Life I've been careful not to tell you too much about this book because I don't want to take away something I believe every reader deserves to experience for themselves. What I can tell you is that The Beautiful Life of Rick is a work of fiction inspired by real experiences, and it asks us to think about something we sometimes forget. How much of our lives do we spend waiting? Waiting for things to get better. Waiting for the right opportunity. Waiting until we have more money, more time, or fewer worries. Meanwhile, the sun keeps rising, the seasons keep changing, and life keeps moving along whether we're paying attention or not. I've learned over my many years that some of the most beautiful moments in life aren't the ones we planned. They're the little things we almost walked past without noticing. A sunrise. A quiet morning. A walk through the woods. The person sitting beside us. Sometimes those little moments turn out to be the biggest things of all. Today, Rick's Story Belongs to You Breezie and I have been excited about this day, but we've also been a little nervous. When you spend so much time putting your heart into something, eventually you have to let it go and trust that it will find its way to the people who need it. That's where I am today. I'm not going to tell you what happens in this book. I'm not even going to give you a little hint. I want you to meet Rick for yourself. And when you turn that final page, I hope you'll sit quietly for a moment and think about your own beautiful life. Because no matter where you've been, what you've lost, or what tomorrow might bring, there's still something worth appreciating about being here today. The Beautiful Life of Rick is available now on Amazon in paperback and hardcover. Just search for The Beautiful Life of Rick by Finius Miles. And to everyone who has encouraged me, read my stories, shared our adventures, or simply stopped by to say hello, Thank You. You've helped make this old fellow's life a whole lot more beautiful than I ever imagined it could be. Life is a gift, my friends. Don't forget to open it. Until our next adventure, Finius and Breezie
