When Morning Knows Your Name

When Morning Knows Your Name Some mornings do not simply arrive. They come alive. This morning began with Silver looking up at me and giving me one of his little meows. “Good morning, Silver.” And just like that, the day was officially open for business. Outside, the hummingbirds were already moving faster than most of us can think, chasing one another through the mountain air as if they had somewhere important to be. Maybe they did. Or maybe they simply understood something we sometimes forget: when you are given another morning, you are supposed to live the heck out of it. Then came the cowboy coffee. There is something almost sacred about watching that dark coffee pour from an old pot into Breezie’s cup and then into mine. Nothing fancy. No expensive machine. Just hot coffee, two cups and another morning together on Peace Mountain. As that coffee slowly poured, the clouds rolled across the pink cliffs like a long white train passing through the mountains. For a moment, everything seemed to stop. The coffee kept pouring, the clouds kept moving, and the whole world looked like it had been painted just for us. That is the beautiful thing about life. Some of its greatest moments do not announce themselves. They do not arrive with fireworks or marching bands. Sometimes they appear as a cat saying good morning, hummingbirds dancing outside the window, cowboy coffee filling an old cup or clouds drifting past a mountain. We spend so much of life waiting for something big to happen that we can miss the miracle already happening right in front of us. This morning reminded me that happiness does not always come roaring through the door. Sometimes it slips in quietly, sits beside you and waits for you to notice. So wherever you are today, step outside. Look up. Breathe deeply. Find one beautiful thing and let it remind you that you are still here. Your story is not finished. Your best morning may still be on its way. Your greatest adventure may already be walking toward you. As long as the sun keeps rising, hope still has a place to land. And if you woke up this morning, then life has not given up on you. Please do not give up on life.
